Photodegradation for Mordant Orange 37 and Direct Green B from Water using Nanokaolin

Abstract:
Increasing concentrations of dyes including mordant orange37 and direct green B in surface and groundwater are a major environmental concern in recent years. In this research, the potential of nanokaolin for efficient removal of MO37 and DGB residue from aqueous solutions was investigated. For this purpose, nanoKaolin was characterized by XRD, surface area and TEM techniques. Effect of various parameters such as contact time, adsorbent dosage, initial concentration of MO37 and DGB and temperature on adsorption of MO37 and DGB on nanokaolin was investigated. The results showed that the best condition for removal of MO37 and DGB was exhibited at contact time 90 min and adsorbent dosage 1g/L. The removal of MO37 and DGB decreased with the increase of initial concentration. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were applied to the equilibrium data.
